Broncial Infection

Yipee! i am sick. of course, i knew this before i spoke to my doctor, but hearing a professional say it always gives it a touch of seriousness. he warned me about my cough developing into pneumonia. wouldn't that be a bitch! i had walking pneumonia about 3 years ago. i don't think i have met one person who has had pneumonia, let alone twice. seems like lightening just might strike twice. here's to antibiotics and inhalers!

Top 5 things to do while sick

1. sleep
2. take medicine
3. watch tv
4. read
5. drink something warm

Hello Rockview

today is better than yesterday. i think it has to be, right? there has to be hope of a better day than the day before... i dunno.

turns out, one of my kids is off to the alternative education program for his part in yesterday's festivities. shame. he is a good kid. bright. i guess you can't make their decisions for them. i just kids would decide to be successes before they lost their potential.

i am on break, second period. trying to smile and remember that life can only kick you once or twice, right. being sick and trying to deal with students is no fun. these are the days i wish i was not a teacher. these are the days which try this man's soul.

top 5 times of the day

1. midnight
2. 3pm
3. 11am
4. 2am
5. 6am

Let me explain. midnight is great because if you stay up that late you feel like you accomplished something. 3pm used to be cartoon time when i was a kid. also used to be when i got out of school. 11am is the best to get up. late enough to be relaxing, early enough to enjoy the day. 2am. yes, i know its the last call time, but it also means you have been out to as late as you could be, so its good regardless. 6am is, of course, the time i get up, so it sucks for that reason. but it is also the time when i realize i am just going to stay up all night. its one of those no turning back points, i dig it.

the world is falling apart

apparently there is a rash of drug use in my school. wonderful. why are 7th and 8th graders doing drugs? i kept clean throughout highschool, college, and beyond, and these kids are already doing it. i am really disheartened. feel like giving up and all that.

Day Ending

Today is almost done, yippee!!!

i am waiting for the bell to ring. i have some meetings to attend after school, but they won't kill me. My cough might, though. There is the bell. the kids are rushing out the room and suddenly i am alone. weird how empty rooms feel that were just full of pushing children.

tonight i will sleep and try and get over this cough.

Another day

still coughing. that sucks. seems this cold will not let go of me. every class, every errand, everything interrupted by that nagging cough. 4 years ago i had a cough like this. it lasted a month and a 1/2. i finally went to the doctor and he decided i had walking pneumonia. i hope i spelled that word right, i didn't look it up.

i am currently reading The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snickett. Also occupying time on my nightstand, car, and free time: The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract, Radiohead's OK Computer (Thirty Three and a Third series)by Dai Griffiths, Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick (for my 7th graders).

Top 5 friends I miss

1. Carla Ochoa (went away to cali and i never saw her again, am currently trying to find her)

2. Bob Lopez (moved to San Antonio, got hooked up, calls every now and then)

3. Dan Solomon (moved to austin to get into the scene with his spoken word, is doing well, but much missed)

4. Jen Corby (havn't seen her in a long time, when i moved from dallas, she remained)

5. George Oster (kind of a long shot, but missed regardless)

last night was rough, adri couldn't sleep and i was coughing most of the night. yesterday i found out i got this wonderful illness from my mother (thanks!) and she is going to the doctor to find out what she has. i told her to let me know if it was ebola or something.

whatever happened to ebola anyway? wouldn't terrorists want to get a hold on that stuff? i hope someone is watching out for that, because puking your inards out seems like no fun.
