Week's End Coming

The weekend is an hour away and I am waiting for the bell to call my students to pep rally. I am tired, my back hurts, and I wish I was anywhere else. Hopefully the weekend will recharge me and get me up for another week. Of course, next week is 6 week test, so yippeee...

Another Substandard Day

When the standard for a day is absolute zero, being below the standard would be impossible, right? nah, not really. Zero is all relative, regardless of the aforementioned absolute. I am still battling the aforemented cold and that makes teaching pretty tough. The children, of course, are extremely understanding...wait, did I just type that? he he, no chance.

One nice moment though, I walked into the romper room (spec. ed.) to buy a fund raiser bottle of water. All the students jumped up and started hugging and laughing with me. The students all know me from the hall (their room is down the hall) and recognize me because of my looks (big tall dude with a beard) and my voice (deep and booming). It was nice to be loved, if only for a second, by kids who are genuinely happy to see me.

The Presidential race is almost over and i am looking forward to it. I am sick of the mudslinging and the barbs the candidates keep chucking. It translates into the same crap with my friends who pick up the arguements and throw them at each other. When will it end? Hopefully in a couple of days. Of course, we could have Florida 2, but maybe they have cleared things up, I don't know. I wish they would put up a candidate that would blow the other away, like Clinton or Raegan. At least then there were no recounts or contested elections. We knew who won and we could see a huge landslide.

enough...

Coldest Day in South Texas

I came down with a cold over the weekend. Might have picked it up Friday from one of the students, I don't know. However, it has forced me to call a substitute for the second half of the day. I am glad to be going home, I really don't feel well. I think feeling sick is the worst part of being alive. Maybe feeling pain might outrank it, but it would be a close race.

Tonight, no world series (travel day) so I will probably get more sleep. My friend Joseph wants to come over and hang out, but I'm not sure how great a host I would be.

Interesting thing I noticed today. Because I was sick, I had the students read chapter 2 from our novel (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe) silently. Apparently they don't make students like they used to. Everyone was complaining about it being to long and how they didnt understand it. It was a tad bit irritating. I remember reading that book when I was 7 or 8. It's hard to understand what happened to these kids.

Enough, 3rd period is almost over and I am about to go home. *sniffle*
