the world is falling apart

apparently there is a rash of drug use in my school. wonderful. why are 7th and 8th graders doing drugs? i kept clean throughout highschool, college, and beyond, and these kids are already doing it. i am really disheartened. feel like giving up and all that.

don't give up...be there to inspire and educate. be there to pull them out of the wayside if they fall into it and be there to hold there hand in the hard times. stick around and be there to celebrate when they pull through.

Sad...that is so young. However, I put part of the blame on the f'ing D.A.R.E campaign itself. My daughter is only 6 years old and was bombarded with their "just say no" campaign this year. She is in the first grade!!!!! She came home talking about marijuana (and thought cigarettes made people "act funny"). I realize some kids start young, but as far as I am concerned that program stole a piece of her childhood away by introducing her to concepts beyond her years. No one seems to want to let kids be kids these days. I wanted to kill them all...their approach is unsuccessful and unnecessary. Oh it pissed me off.
