Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good philosophical interpretation of a culturally popular text as much as the next guy, (more, probably), this Big Lebowski reminds of those folks who claim the Smurfs were created as a social critique in favor of communism. Which is rediculous, because we all know that the smurfs were created by the French, who live in a republic.
Althogh I do believe that BL has some philosophical undertones, (no shit, it's a Cohen brothers movie), I don't think that it is so because of its own accord. By that I mean to say that any and all critical thought associated with the movie, whether it has to do with a Nixon photograph or white russians, was intentionally put there by the film's creators. To make a big deal of any "message" or whatnot pertaining to the movie is kind or redundant.
